AIRBUS. From January to June 2016 I was commissioned by The New York Times Magazine to photograph the final assembly of an Airbus A321 commercial aircraft in Mobile, Alabama. These photographs show the various stages of production of our plane, MSN #6973, as well as other identical planes in production for American Airlines. I also visited the Pratt & Whitney factory in Middletown, Connecticut, where I saw our engines being manufactured. Selections from this project were featured in the May 7, 2017 “Money” issue of the Magazine, with an accompanying essay by Binyamin Appelbaum.
